In the Episcopal Church, Confirmation is a sacramental Rite in which the candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 860.

Those who have been sacramentally confirmed in the Roman Catholic or Orthodox Churches are received into the Episcopal Church. Reception is celebrated by a bishop in the Episcopal Church.

Reaffirmation is for those who have returned from a time of religious inactivity to an active practice of faith and who wish to publicly reaffirm their baptismal vows. Others who have experienced a renewal of faith or desire to renew their Christian commitment may also reaffirm their baptismal vows.

Anyone who is interested in pursuing Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation at St. Peter's Episcopal Church should call the rector, the Rev. Anita Schell-Lambert, at 802-442-2911. Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation will be celebrated on Sunday, Jan. 22, when the Right Rev. Thomas Ely, Bishop of Vermont, makes his annual visit to St. Peter's.
