Lay Ministry
The Veterans' Memorial

The Pastoral Care Ministry program gives opportunity for baptized Episcopalians to live out their Baptismal Vow that makes each person a minister. The Lay Pastoral Care Ministry program complements and supplements the pastoral care provided by St. Peter’s priest and deacon, the ordained clergy.

Most of us, individually or as teams or families, have an hour a month to visit a shut-in, help with some shopping, provide transportation or prepare some food for a special need (the arrival of a new baby, someone who is ill or just home from the hospital). Use your imagination; you may have a talent that we haven't thought of. Please think about this important ministry and your part in it. Remember we are all lay ministers. Call Emily Kennedy (442-5300) or Nancy Bower (447-0119).

Prayer Chains are another area of the Pastoral Care Ministry. There are 3 prayer chains that provide daily prayers for those who have requested special intercessions. Prayer requests are received by one of the prayer chain leaders and are passed on to the rest of that chain. The prayer chains are confidential. You are welcome to become part of one of the prayer chains. We can always use more people in this ministry. If this is a ministry that you feel you would be called to participate in please call the church office (442-2911) or Nancy Bower (447-0119) To request prayer for yourself or someone else, call the church office (442-2911) or Nancy (447-0119).

Several people from the Pastoral Care Ministry have been trained as healing team members to provide prayer with people for specific requests. A Healing Service is held in the Lady Chapel every Sunday after the 8 AM Liturgy and after the 10 AM Liturgy for anyone who desires special healing prayers for health and wholeness for themselves or for others.

Contact Nancy Bower for more information, or call the church office.
