APPLY FOR FUEL ASSISTANCE IN JULY:
Even though summer has just begun, the State Fuel Office is gearing up for a busy year. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) accepts applications for fuel assistance from July through February. If Vermonters meet the resource and income guidelines, the Fuel Assistance Program helps to pay a portion of their winter heating bill.
If a person or family applied for Fuel Assistance last winter, they are already on the mailing list to receive an application packet for this winter. Applications will be mailed the week of July 7.
If a person or family did not apply last year, they can get their names added to the July mailing list by calling 1-800-479-6151.
The only way to find out if you are eligible is to apply for the program.
On or about July 7, the Fuel Application packet will be posted on the web at http://dcf.vermont.gov/esd/fuel_assistance.
