St. Peter’s lay governing body is the Vestry, consisting of 12 members elected from the congregation. The Senior Warden by canon is selected by the Rector from those members of the vestry as elected by the congregation. The vestry is responsible for choosing one of its members to be Junior Warden. Towards the end of the calendar year, the vestry nominating committee requests nominations for parishioners who would be willing to serve on the St. Peter’s Vestry. New Vestry members are then elected at the Annual Meeting in late January. or early February.

The Vestry is charged with supporting the spiritual welfare and programs of the parish. The Vestry is the administrative and policy arm of the parish, determining budgetary matters, programs, and procedures. Expectations also include that the individual is committed to his or her own spiritual growth, regular worship and attendance at parish events and programs through the year.
